About our Partnership Programmes
One of the most important and exciting developments for Limerick School of Music in recent years has been our partnership programmes with Our Lady Queen of Peace, CBS and Presentation Primary schools.
We have allocated teaching hours to bring music tuition directly to these schools with a wide variety of programmes: strings, woodwind, brass, percussion and musicianship. Interested students are gradually integrated into the Limerick School of Music main building for lessons, ensembles and orchestras.
Study of music from a young age
Engagement with the study of music from a young age has long been recognised as a crucial tool in children’s development, retention in school, engagement with their learning, sense of confidence and pride, sense of inclusion in society and moreover provides the basis for endless opportunities for social interaction throughout their lives in so many settings, at home and when they travel.
In addition to utilising teaching hours for these partnerships, we have been successful in accessing significant grant funding from the Music Capital Scheme (Music Network/Arts Council of Ireland) and Social Intervention Fund.
