About the Classes

Musicianship/ Music Theory classes are an integral part of music education and all music students are obliged to attend a musicianship/theory class. Musicianship/Music Theory Classes are only available to LSOM instrumental or vocal students.

Our new musicianship curriculum is gradually moving into the place of the more traditional grades in Theory at the junior end of the school. However, all the material will be covered to enable the students to take a Grade V ABRSM theory exam when they are ready, as before. Students can then continue with theory studies up to Grade VIII and with further studies leading to a Teaching/Performance Diploma.

Late Starters

Our “late starters” have the option of attending a tailored Teen theory class which will enable them to study theory in a class with their peers. Musicianship/theory classes are an integral part of music education and all students are obliged to attend one of these group classes at least as far as Grade V level. The musicianship/theory classes are free of charge. We also offer tuition for Junior Cert (practical only) and the full Leaving Certificate Music course.
